In short: Yes!

You can post letters and invitations through the mail. we have tested this on many occasions when sending letters with Australia post. You will need to take several things into consideration when mailing letters with wax seals.

  • Use modern. flexible sealing wax like those we sell through Bounde.
  • For wedding invitations consider placing your wax sealed envelope inside a larger envelope for protection. This can prevent any potential scuffing that may occur due to the machinery the mail passes through.
  • Wax seals add to overall thickness of your letter, thick letters (over 5mm) can have an increased postage fee.

3-4 wax beads per wax seal. For larger wax seals you will require more.

In short:

Melt 3-4 wax beads in a wax melting spoon. Once the wax is the consistency of runny honey, pour the wax onto the envelope or wax sealing mat. Allow the wax to simply pour from the wax melting spoon onto the envelope, gift or mat. There is no need to move the spoon around. As quickly as possible gently press the wax seal stamp into the centre of the wax pool. Allow 60 seconds for the wax to completely cool and set hard before removing the wax seal stamp from the wax.

For more detailed instructions: We've written a whole blog post with a step by step guide to making wax seals and a video tutorial to show you how to make your own DIY wax seals. You can find the Beginners Guide to Making Wax Seals here.

Avoid leaving in direct sunlight and contact with liquids, as these can cause discoloration to the leather.

To clean, wipe your leather pencil case with a dry cloth regularly to remove any dust or surface debris. For dirt and grime use a slightly damp, soft cloth and wipe gently. Treat your leather pencil case with leather conditioner every few months to keep it soft and supple.

Please note leather conditioner will darken the leather, as it acts as a "moisturiser". Leather tends to lighten again over several months as the leather dries out.

You can spot clean your fabric pencil case with a soft, damp cloth and mild soap. Do not submerge the entire pencil case in water, as this may damage the zipper.

Clean your glass pen holder by gently wiping with a soft, damp cloth. Do not place in dishwasher.

While the wax is still warm and soft, use a wad of tissues or paper towel to carefully wipe away the melted wax. Do not let your hand come in contact with the metal of the spoon. Be careful as the metal part of the spoon will still be very hot.
